1971 - PT Astra International became authorized agent for Honda Motorcycles. The disribution in Jakarta was conducted through four big retail outlets: Aneka Motor, Umum Motor, Gembira Motor and Tomboro Motor.

 

1972 - On August 6th, the four retail outlets decided to merge their business into one company called PD Union Motor which was located at Jalan Gedong Panjang. The company status was upgraded to become the Honda Main Dealer for greater Jakarta & Tangerang area.

 

1975 - The company name was changed to PD Union Jaya Motor and moved to its new location at  Jalan Sukarjo Wiryopranoto No. 2 A. The company had two businesses: As the Main Dealer for Honda Motorcycle and the Dealer for Honda Car.

 

1983 - PD Union Jaya Motor did corporate restructuring by separating the Main Dealer business and the Honda car dealership by forming two separate companies: PT Wahana Makmur Sejati as the Main Dealer for Honda Motorcycle and PT Pro Union Indojaya as the Dealer for Honda Motorcycle and Honda Car.

 

1991 - To concentrate more on the business and to support the sales & after sales service, PT Wahana Makmur Sejati moved its Head Office to ATAP Center, located at Jalan Gunung Raya Sahari No.32.

 

1997 - After 25 years in the business, the company decided to declare its corporate group name called Wahana Artha Group. The name of the building was also changed from ATAP Center to Gedung Wahana Artha.

 

1998 - Like other businesses, PT Wahana Makmur Sejati suffered the effects of the economic crisis, with sales plunging from 120,000 units to only 15,000 units annually.

 

1999 - As the global economic crisis continued, sales increased only slightly to 20,000 units.

 

2000 - Indonesia started to recover from the economic crisis.  Consumer purchasing power started to recover, and sales increased more than double, from 20,000 units to 50,000 units. China made motorcycles began to enter the market.

 

2001 - The company doubled the sales to in the middle of 100.000 units fierce competition in the marketplace.

 

2002 - Sales continued to grow to 120,000 units.  Honda remained as the market leader, with 64 % market share.

 

2005 - With the support of credit sales, the company sales reached a new peak of  260.555 units.  The subsidiary company, WOM Finance became a public company with Bank International Indonesia Tbk (BII) aqcuiring majority of the shares.
